Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether

My granddaughter has many toys, but her favorite, and what seems to be the favorite of my daughter's friend's babies and young toddlers is Sophie the teething giraffe. Sophie comes in natural rubber for baby's teething 0- 12 months.

Introducing "pretty" affordable fashion & accessories for the new grandmom.

As I mentioned here yesterday, after a day babysitting a young toddler, the new grandmom can occasionally get to feeling somewhat worn out, or even dowdy. I have posted extravagant and sometimes lavish fashion and accessories on my fashion page, but these are dreamy images and can be costly. I am committed to continually discovering "pretty" affordable fashion & accessories and posting them on the fashion page, so  keep coming back to see what I've found! PS - Although the models are young, I will post fashions for a variety of ages (60+, and still alluring and elegant.)

Babysitting Baby M., Month Two

Babysitting Baby M., Month Two

After a month of babysitting, I have found that my day varies from fun to fascinating to slightly tedious. I feel a little guilty when it's tedious, because I know how lucky I am. I wanted to communicate that I felt younger, although sometimes after an entire day with an 11th month old, I feel a bit weary and older, which isn’t how I wanted to feel.

But the days have been getting easier and more productive. I'm finding ways to stimulate my intellect, play with Baby M, love her, feed her, and keep her safe. I will continue to post images and ideas that stimulate my interests: ideas, fashion and food, and also share my experiences in ways that express my passion for my childcare role, as well as the care I need for myself.

Apple Cinnamon Baby Teethers

According to Becca from Homebeccanomics: ..."a cookie full of healthy (and safe) ingredients with no sugar. These come together quickly and smell delicious while cooking. Your baby will love them...Every baby is different but I wouldn’t give these to yours until they’re gumming up some chunkier foods – thus reducing any choking risks. @http://www.homebeccanomics.com/2015/01/19/apple-cinnamon-baby-teethers/

Instructive, Delightful and Entertaining: Whittle World Wooden School Bus Set

My granddaughter, Baby M, loves playing with The Whittle World Wooden School Bus Set - no plastic! My daughter wanted her to play with a toy with wheels and one which both girls and boys would enjoy. I was amazed that most of the pictures of the toy were pictured with little boys, but Baby M certainly loves it. “There's a friendly driver at the wheel & room for six happy passengers in this 10-piece wooden play set. With easy-rolling wheels & doors that open & close, this exciting set creates an interactive scene designed to inspire limitless play.” It even has a sturdy stop sign that flips out on the driver’s side. Delightfully, the little passengers are multi-racial.

Nana's "exceptional" eggplant parmesan

1. Buy 1-2 firm elongated eggplants. 2.Peel and slice into 1/4 inch slices. 3.Salt the slices and place in a large colander, and over the slices with a paper towel. 4. Place a heavy dish (object) on top of the paper towel for several hours, so that the moisture drains from the eggplant. 5. Rinse the eggplant lightly. Whisk several eggs with salt and pepper, and dip the eggplant slices into the egg and coat with Italian style bread crumbs.

6. In a lightly coated frying pan, place mild olive oil or canola oil and brown the eggplant on both sides - cook so the eggplant is tender, but do not “fry.” Coat the bottom of a casserole dish with your favorite marina sauce and place a layer of the eggplant on the sauce and then lightly coat the top of the eggplant layers. Sprinkle - generously, grated (or I preferred shaved) locatelli or parmesan cheese. Repeat so that you have three layers (you may need more than one eggplant). The top of the casserole should have a decent coating of marinara sauce and cover with grated cheese.

7. Cover tightly with foil and bake for approx. 1 hour on 350. You know it is finished when you can cut the eggplant with a fork.

It is also delicious cold - for breakfast on Italian white bread. Feel free to comment on or ask questions regarding the recipe - I watched her make it many times. By far, most guests, and my family, have said that it is the best they ever tasted.
